Natural Crohn’s Disease TreatmentCrohn’s disease (aka Crohns Disease) is described as an ongoing GI and intestinal disorder that causes serious inflammation. The effects of Crohns Disease include abdominal pain (typically in the lower right side), weight loss, skin problems, fever, and diarrhea as well as bleeding (which can be serious for children or elderly). Thus Crohns disease is labeled an inflammatory bowel disease and can be hard to separate from other intestinal bowel disorders (colitis, ulsers, etc).
What is known about Crohns disease by the medical community is limited to theories. Their main thought is that the body’s immune system reacts to all substances including food as hostile. The theory goes on that the overly aggressive immune system dumps white blood cells in the lining of the intestines, producing chronic inflammation, which leads to ulcerations and bowel injury. Scientists have not determined if the immune system is the cause or effect of the problems they associate with Crohns disease.
One of the most serious side effects of Crohn’s disease is nutritional. There are assimilation, malabsorbtion, and deficiency issues. The nutritional problems can further the advance of issues such as arthritis, kidney stones gallstones, and other disease. This is why whole food nutritional supplements are so incredibly important for those suffering with Crohns disease.
Intestinal Health The intestines, large and small, are a critical part of the digestive system. Not only do the intestines play a role in breaking down foods, but they also have everything to do with eliminating waste. However, when there are improper nutrients within the bloodstream, the cells lining the intestines can become damaged, perforated, ulcerated and deteriorated. Adjunctive Nutritional Schedule * Super Green Food: 1 Tablespoon per day * Whole Calcium Supplement: 1 Teaspoon per day * Anti Inflammation: 6 Capsules per day * Fish Oils: 4 Capsules per day * Cod Liver Oil: 3 Capsules per day * Vitamin B Food Powder: 1 Teaspoon per day (If yeast and gluten is a problem, then use Healthy Cell Food Powder instead of Vitamin B Food Powder) * Digestive Enzymes (1 tablet per meal) may be used as a digestive support product.
The key nutrients involved in maintaining the integrity of the intestines include Calcium (calcium is needed whenever there is torn or damaged tissue) (See Whole Calcium Supplement); Vitamin C and A complexes (See Super Green Food or Vitamin C & A Food); zinc; a multiplicity of minerals (Super Green Food); foods that fight inflammation and foods that provide essential fatty acids (See Anti Inflamation and Fish Oils); and foods that have the Vitamin B complex the provides nerve transmission to the bowels as well as supports the bowel muscle (See Vitamin B Food). Chlorophyll, in green, leafy vegetables (as well as Super Greens Food) is important in internal cleansing.
Study on Zinc and Crohn’s Disease In one study (Gastroenterology, 78:272-79, 1980), zinc deficiency is listed as a “complication” of Crohn’s disease. Low serum zinc concentrations were found in 21 of 52 patients with regional enteritis. Noel Solomons, M.D., University of Chicago, found that, in his study, all Crohn’s disease patients were zinc deficient. Inflammation of the small intestine and cecum is frequently a vitamin A deficiency (See Cod Liver Oil and Super Greens Food and Vitamin C & A Food).
Digestion: Be certain to powder all tablets before ingesting due to the inherent difficulties with digestion presented with bowel problems. If digestive difficulties are present with supplementation, begin with smaller dosages and then continue to increase over time until the above schedule is achieved.
Dietarily, avoid raw foods, may be irritating. Avoid processed and refined sugars, breads, altered fats. Refined sugars remove cellular minerals needed for healing.
